NWA130BE troubles

Dear,

I have the following set-up:

  • Zyxel Nebula FWA 710 5G outdoor router, connected (PoE) to
  • Zyxel GS1005HP 5-port PoE switch
  • zyxel NebulaFlex NWA130BE wifi access point (connected to the switch with PoE)

My problem is that I have no internet when connecting wireless with the NWA130BE (both phone and computers).

  • the FWA710 is having a good 4G/5G internet connection. When accessing the router through the router-wifi (and zyxel air app), speed test is very good. Also, when connecting my laptop directly to the switch (wired), I have internet access on the laptop.
  • I have registered the NWA130BE in the nebula app, created a site in the nebula app. The nebula app is able to see the NWA130BE and reports it as 'online'. Initially I was able to ping (e.g. google) through the nebula app, but now recently (after trying to rest the NWA130BE) the ping fails.
  • Before I connected the NWA130BE to the switch (above set-up), I connected the NWA130BE to my old modem (4G Huawei B525s-23a) to test (the router was not yet installed). That was also the moment I registered the NWA130BE in the nebula app. Wifi access and internet through wifi was working fine then.
  • Now since I have the outdoor zyxel router up and running, and connected the NWA130BE as per above, I am unable to get internet through the NWA130BE wifi. Even connecting to the wifi is taking a lot of time.
  • I tried to rest the NWA130BE (considering that the old 'link' with the Huawei router somehow was holding back to connect to the FWA710 router), but that didn't seem to help.

Would anyone be able to advise me on how to get the NWA130BE set-up properly?

Regard,

JOR

    Hi @JOR,

    Welcome to the Zyxel Community!

To better identify the issue, please clarify the behavior observed after switching from your old Huawei modem to the FWA710 router:

    • As you mentioned it was online before reset, is the NWA130BE currently Online or Offline?
    • When you say “Even connecting to the WiFi is taking a lot of time,” do you mean wireless clients connect to the NWA130BE SSID successfully but have no Internet access?
    • Could you also check if the NWA130BE has received valid DHCP info (IP, Gateway, DNS) from the FWA710? Go to Site-wide > Devices > Access Points and find the NWA130BE’s status section.
    • What mode is the FWA710 currently set to—Router mode or IP Passthrough mode?
    • Also, perform a test by connecting the AP’s LAN port directly to your PC/laptop (wired) to see if the PC also fails to access the Internet.

Additionally, please double-check on the client side:

    • Matching Wi-Fi security type (Enhanced-Open, WPA/WPA2/WPA3, etc.). If changed before, remove the SSID profile on the client and reconnect.
    • Client must receive a valid private IP such as 192.168.1.x. If it shows 169.x.x.x, this means DHCP failed.
    • Make sure the wireless adapter on your WiFi client supports the same WiFi standard as the AP’s radio. For example, 6 GHz WiFi networks are only available for WiFi clients that support WiFi 6E or higher standards.

Lastly, if the issue persists after the above troubleshooting, please enable Zyxel Support Access and share your Organization/Site name. This will allow us to investigate further directly.

    Dear,

Thank you for your swift response.

The FWA710 was in IP Passthrough mode. I have disable this (in the APN#1 profile) , so the FWA710 is now in Router mode, and now all seems to be working fine.

    Thanks.
