PLA6456 pair not taking firmware upgrade

I tried to upgrade firmware on my PLA6456 pair. The process doesn't seem to be working. I downloaded the ZIP archive and expanded it (on W10 Pro) and went to the "device" tab. I located and selected the proper file (100ABSU7C0.bin) but when I click on "OK" to perform the upgrade it appears nothing happens. The firmware is still showing "V.100(ABSU.3)C0 SPIRIT.v7_8_r619+37_cvs" Is there a specific configuration required to get this working (for example, a DIRECT connection between the PC (or MAC) with the firmware to download. Might it be necessary to install the other available firmware versions in order before trying to upgrade to the latest?
