Introduction to WISP and Zyxel Wi-Fi 7 Fixed Wireless Access
A Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) is a company that delivers internet connectivity using radio waves instead of traditional physical infrastructure like fiber or cables. This method of delivery is essential in regions where physical internet connections are not available or where there are large coverage areas to serve. WISPs typically build their service infrastructure on towers to provide long-distance wireless connectivity to various end customers at locations such as homes, farms, and campuses.

While the 5GHz band has traditionally been used for these wireless connections, its performance can be limited by channel interference and high device density. To address these challenges, Zyxel is introducing the first Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) products for the WISP market, utilizing the 6GHz band to ensure higher performance and more reliable long-range connectivity.
