DX3301-T0 as secondary router for VOIP

My newly installed and ISP-managed Calix GigaSpire U6 router has 2 RJ.11 ports but the firmware has been modified such that there is nowhere to enter my Sipgate credentials to be able to use VOIP.

I still have the DX3301-T0 which I used to use for VOIP so I have set this up in Passthrough mode, (LAN to LAN ethernet connected, with DHCP disabled on the 3301 and SIP ALG disabled on both) and can happily attach devices to it and access the internet. So far so good.

But I can't get VOIP to work - the settings on the 3301 are the same as when it worked as the 'main' router. Is there some setting I'm missing on the 3301?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Peter

    Thanks @Peter2

I tried Sipgate who tried to be helpful but neither they nor their on-line documents helped.

However, through persistence and trial and error I have now, at last, got it working - the solution is weird to say the least but it does work. Oh, and devices connected to the Zyxel LAN can access the internet and communicate with devices on the GigaSpire.

Here's what I did for anyone else having this issue….

Set LAN ip Address on Zyxel to 192.168.1.4 or, (I assume - not tested), equivalent on 10.x.y.z network

Set Broadband on Zyxel to ETHWAN

    Set Mode to  Routing

    Set Encapsulation to IPoE

    Disable DHCP on Zyxel

Disable SIP ALG on both devices

Disable ipV6 on Zyxel, (My GigaSpire doesn't support ipV6)

    Disable the Firewall on Zyxel

MESH – Set Mpro Mesh to ON in Wireless settings on Zyxel

Make the following RJ45 connections: -

WAN Port on Zyxel to LAN Port 1 on GigaSpire

LAN Port 1 on Zyxel to LAN port 2 on GigaSpire

Yes, it's strange that it requires two RJ45 connections; but it's the only way I could get it to work and ONLY on the specific ports shown above and that specific config. Disconnect either cable or use different LAN ports and nothing works.

Hope this Is of help someone else.

    Best Regards

    Peter

This is a common topic with VoIP to use devices behind Router/Nat/Firewall or provider CG-Nat. Many solutions like using stun, outbound proxy or switch to VoIP via IPv6 . Sipgate has a lot of infos and solutions about may be you can get a IP Tel device and they give you support and you can ask your ISP how to use in his net too .
