My GS2210 switch log showed the following information:

90 Jun 13 11:37:04 NO ddmi: RxPower Over Alarm High Threshold(-2),Port 28 - UP_SW_ALUNOS2, CurValue:-2

I would like to know what this means and what to do to resolve it. Thank you.

    Hi @Gel ,

This log message indicates that the incoming optical signal (Rx Power) on Port 28 is too strong. In detail, the transceiver has an alarm threshold of -2 dBm, and the current incoming signal is -2 dBm, is meeting this maximum limit. This commonly happens on short cable runs using long-range optics, SFP transceiver issue. Here is what you can do to resolve this issue:

    • Use a longer fiber cable or add an Optical Attenuator: If you are using a long-range (LX/LR/ER) transceiver over a short physical distance, the signal is likely too strong. Either route a longer fiber cable to naturally reduce signal strength, or install an inline optical attenuator (e.g., a 5 dB or 10 dB attenuator) on the receiving side of the fiber link will safely reduce the signal strength.
    • Verify Transceiver Compatibility: Ensure that a Zyxel-certified transceiver is installed in the device.

Please be aware that the GS2210 series has reached its End of Life (EOL) status, which means our support for this model will be limited. For information on alternative options, you also can refer to the available models: Switch | Zyxel Networks
