How do I run a speedtest on a Zyxel DSL Modem?

I need to see if my router is causing slow speed. I was told to do this I need to do the speed test directly on my Zyxel DSL Modem. But I tried connecting my Ethernet cable from my computer to the Zyxel and it does not work. I think it's because the protocol from the ISP is a different codec from what I have on my router.

Is there a way to test my internet speed directly from the Zyxel modem?
