Yes, Zyxel VPN series firewalls can manage WiFi 7 Access Points, including models like the WBE660S and WBE530. However, you must ensure your firewall is running the latest firmware version that includes management support for these models.

⚠️ Important Capability Note

Please be aware that this management support is intended only for basic management and limited standard usage scenarios. Advanced, native WiFi 7-specific features and functionalities will not work or be configurable through the VPN firewall controller.

How to Check and Update AP Firmware on Your Firewall

To ensure your firewall can successfully recognize and provide basic management for WiFi 7 APs, follow these steps to update the AP controller firmware:

  1. Log into your VPN firewall Web GUI.
  2. Navigate to: Configuration > Wireless > AP Management > Firmware.
  3. Check the firmware status for your specific AP models and click renew firmware button to fetch the latest management profiles.

⚠️ Critical Requirement: You must ensure the firewall’s internet connection is completely stable and not blocked or disconnected during the downloading process. Interrupted downloads can cause firmware installation or detection issues.

Troubleshooting

If the firmware shows that it is completely up to date but the firewall still cannot manage the WiFi 7 AP, please kindly contact your local Zyxel support team for further investigation.
