Rate Limit for Wi-Fi Clients (SSID-Based)

AP rate limits are tied to SSID profiles.

It limits the upload/download speed for each client connecting to the SSID.

1. Go to Site-wide > Configure > Access points > SSID advanced settings.
2. Select the specific SSID you want to configure from the dropdown.
3. Scroll down to the Rate-limit section.
4. Enable the feature and adjust the Download and Upload limits per client.
5. Click Save. (Note: If you want this to apply to only "each" specific AP, you would need to create a dedicated SSID for that AP and use SSID Tags to assign it exclusively to that AP).

To set different Wi-Fi speed limits on each Access Point (AP) in Nebula Cloud, you will use SSID Tags.

Because rate limiting is configured at the SSID level, you cannot directly apply different speed limits to the same SSID name on different APs without grouping them. By using SSID Tags, you can create separate SSID profiles with different speed limits and assign them to specific APs.

Here is the step-by-step guide to setting this up:

Step 1: Tag Your Access Points

First, you need to assign a unique tag to each AP (or group of APs) so Nebula knows which AP should get which speed limit.

1. Go to Site-wide > Devices > Access points.
2. Select your first AP (e.g., AP-Lobby) by checking the box next to it, and click the Tag button.
3. Type a descriptive tag (e.g., lobby-speed) and click + Add new, then click Save.
4. Repeat this for your other APs, giving them different tags (e.g., office-speed) depending on the speed you want them to have.

Step 2: Create the SSID Profiles & Set the Speed Limits

Next, create the wireless networks (SSIDs) and set their respective rate limits.

1. Go to Site-wide > Configure > Access points > SSID settings.
2. Click Add SSID to create your SSIDs (you can name them similarly if you wish, or give them distinct names).
3. Click Save to apply.
4. Now, go to Site-wide > Configure > Access points > SSID advanced settings.
5. Select your first SSID from the dropdown at the top.
6. Scroll down to the Rate-limit section, enable it, and set your desired download/upload speeds (e.g., 10 Mbps).
7. Select your second SSID and set a different speed limit (e.g., 50 Mbps).
8. Save your settings.

Step 3: Map the SSIDs to the Specific APs (SSID Tags)

Finally, tell Nebula which AP should broadcast which SSID based on the tags you created in Step 1.

1. Go back to Site-wide > Configure > Access points > SSID settings.
2. Find your first SSID, and locate the Tagging column.
3. Enter the tag you assigned to your first AP (e.g., lobby-speed). (This ensures only APs tagged with lobby-speed will broadcast this specific SSID).
4. On your second SSID, enter the tag for your second AP (e.g., office-speed).
5. Click Save.

Once saved, the APs will update. Each AP will only broadcast its assigned SSID carrying its own dedicated speed limit!
