Q1: How does licensing priority work in Nebula?
To help you understand what will happen in any scenario, Zyxel operates on a strict priority queue:
Scenario A: Trial License vs. Bundle License/ Add-on license
- Rule: Bundle license/ Add-on license are "real" licenses and always take priority over "temporary" Trials.
- What happens: If an organization is running on a Nebula PRO trial or Elite Trial, registering and activating a bundle license or add-on license (such as the 1-year bundle Elite Pack that comes with the USG Lite 60AX or add-on Elite Pack license) on the device will terminate the trial.
Scenario B: Bundle License vs. Add-on License
- Rule: The bundle license (included with the purchase of your hardware) must run and be consumed first.
- What happens: If you activate a bundle license and manually register an add-on 1-year Elite Pack license, the add-on license goes into a Queued status. It sits waiting in line and will automatically activate the exact day your bundle license expires.
Scenario C: Elite Pack vs. Nebula PRO Pack
- Rule: The Elite Pack is the "all-in-one" license designed for secure routers like the USG Lite 60AX. It includes both premium security features and Nebula PRO Pack management.
- What happens: If you have an Elite Pack active on your router, you do not need to buy a separate Nebula PRO Pack for it. The Elite Pack fulfills the organization-wide "PRO" requirement for that specific device.
Q2: What is the "Organization-Wide Alignment" rule, and how does it affect my licenses?
Nebula operates on a "lowest common denominator" rule for organization management:
- To run your entire Nebula organization at the PRO level, every single device in that organization must have a valid PRO-level license assigned.
- How USG Lite 60AX fits in: Since the USG Lite 60AX is running on an active Elite Pack (which includes PRO features), it counts as a licensed PRO device.
- If you add other devices: If you add an AP or switch to the same organization, those devices must also have a Nebula PRO Pack license assigned. If they do not, the organization will trigger a 15-day Grace Period to allow you to assign licenses before downgrading to the free Base tier.
