using ethernet cable

Greetings,

I'm wondering if you could support me in how to connect to the internet without going through Wifi, but through an ethernet cable. There is no on/off switch on my modem for Wifi and when I try typing the IP address into google and logging in from there using the admin/password written on my modem, it does not work.
