WX3100 meshes with EE5301, then drops and reverts to factory network name

I can get my WX3100 AP to connect to my EE5301 router using the Zyxel app (over wired LAN). I then unplug it and move it where I want it, let it fire up, test the signal and confirm that it’s part of the network.
A minute or two later it drops from the network and reverts its SSID. However if I connect directly to the AP, using its factory settings, it appears to be routing traffic to the router - I can get to the internet.
I want it setup so that its SSID and password match the router to create a seamless network though.
what am I doing wrong?

    These two devices have different specifications and may not be compatible with mesh.

    what do you mean by different specs? They’re both MPro Mesh compatible.

    It sounds like your WX3100 is losing its configuration or reverting to standalone mode when moved.
