I purchased a one year license for my USG40W for content filtering and antivirus for $139.91 on May 19, 2024. Unfortunately, the content filter does not work with current browsers because TLS 1.3 kyber is used in all current browsers but the USG40W with the content filter does not support this. The content filter does not work at all. I have been in contact with ZyXel about this, Ticket # 477167, and have asked if they will be providing a firmware update so the content filter will work. They said they will not be providing an update because the USG40W is end-of-life. I think you should never have sold me a content filter that was not going to work on my USG-40W and, therefore, am requesting a full refund or credit. I can no longer use the USG40W because the content filter will not work with current browsers. I do have a USG20W-VPN with the content filter as well and it works fine, ZyXel did provide a firmware update to work with current browsers, so a credit towards a one year license for the uSG20W-VPN would be an acceptable solution.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention regarding your USG40W and the content filtering license. We understand your frustration with the compatibility issues between current browsers using TLS 1.3 and the device.

First, I want to acknowledge that we have received both your support tickets (#477167 and #241201285). Regarding your refund request, we regret to inform you that, in accordance with the Zyxel Online License Store Terms and Conditions, we are unable to process refunds for orders completed more than 90 days ago. As your purchase was made on May 19, 2024, it falls outside this timeframe.

Furthermore, the USG40W has reached its End-of-Life (EOL) status, meaning we are no longer developing firmware updates for this model. We understand this is not ideal, and we want to assure you that this is a standard part of a product's lifecycle.

Given the EOL status of the USG40W and the limitations of the older hardware, a firmware update to support TLS 1.3 with current cipher suites like Kyber is not feasible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
