    My topology:

    [GS1900-8] Port 1 --- PC
    [GS1900-8] Port 2 --- Fritzbox 6490 (DHCP)  --- WAN
    [GS1900-8] Port 3 --- PC
    [GS1900-8] Port 4 --- PC
    [GS1900-8] Port 5 --- Netgear Powerline Adapter PLW1000  --- Netgear ProSafe GS105 Switch
    [GS1900-8] Port 6 --- Brother MFC L2740DW Printer
    [GS1900-8] Port 7 --- LAG1 --- Synology DS718+
    [GS1900-8] Port 8 --- LAG1 --- Synology DS718+

    Netgear Switch Topology:
Port 1 --- Sony Bravia TV
    Port 2 --- empty
    Port 3 --- empty
Port 4 --- Yamaha ax rv 779 Av Receiver

Reboots very infrequent. When my pc was on port 6, i had reboots every 2-3 hours. Now i have installed a beta firmware, to capture pakets with wireshark (pc needs to be port 1 for this to work). Since i put my pc at port 1 had no reboots for 30 hrs.

    Hi @Chris2404,

Since the reboot symptom doesn't happen now after upgrading the beta firmware we provide you, may you share if there are differences between before-after upgrading the beta firmware?
Ex: Topology change, Traffic loading is increasing, etc...

Although the symptom is gone now, hope you may keep monitor for us.
If there is anything new, keep posting on the forum to share with us.

    Appreciate your cooperation!
    Jason

    Hello,

yesterday around 11 pm i sent a shutdown request to the synology NAS. When i checked next day, it was still online. it seems to have rebooted instead of shutdown. Strange thing is, shortly after i sent the shutdown request to the nas over the web gui, the gs1900 reboots appeared again. the reboots happened very frequently, sometimes even 3x in a hour. I counted 16 reboots in total from yesterday 11:30 pm. The latest reboot happened today at 4:30 pm (exact timestamp see file attached). i captured the latest reboot with wireshark (65 gb package files in total). i will compress them and upload to an ftp. i also have a ping.log to the fritzbox.

aprox. Reboot timestamp according to when i lost connection to a vm on the synology nas:

    Hi @Chris2404,

    Thanks for your information.

Because of the security concern, I will delete the information of the FTP link on the public forum.
I will PM you when we finish downloading the files from your FTP.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Hi,

I am also observing the same issues with occasionaly restarts and a GS1900-8 switch like the thread starter. The Switch was already replaced, but still no improvements. I am also in contact with the zyxel support in germany, but they also have no solution yet. Tried also firmware 2.20, 2.30 and 2.40 with no success.
However good to hear that I am not the only one with these issues. :/
The switch is also running without restarts for 15days without any other device connections. After reconnecting the other PC, Internet and NAS stuff the reboot / restart issues are back.
I am also using a AVM Fritz!Box 6490 (with the latest firmware 6.87) and a synology NAS DS916+.

Just started to see the same symptoms with my 2 GS1900-8 switches although strangely my GS1900-24 is absolutely fine. One switch is worse than the other and is restarting regularly, sometimes multiple times per hour and othertimes it will stay up for a couple of hours.
    From syslog:
    <132> Mar 01 2018 08:01:35 192.168.1.22 %System-4: System reboot     192.168.1.22    01/03 08:01:36.386
    <133> Jan 01 2017 00:00:09 192.168.1.22 %System-5-RESTART: System restarted - Warm Start     192.168.1.22    01/03 08:02:16.839

This suggests that it was an initiated reboot and not some power failure. Both switches are running firmware 2.40 which I upgraded to yesterday but this had started happening on 2.30. I only began noticing this yesterday after starting to work on a new server on the worst of the 2 switches but it may have been happening for longer.
All my switches have at least one pair of 1Gb connections aggregated for trunk connections (the GS1900-24 has 2), the 2 GS1900-8s have a second static LAG for connection to my 2 VMWARE ESXi servers and the GS1900-24 has another LAG to a NAS device. All the switches are configured with 3 VLANs

I have created a crude network diagram

    [GS1900-8] --- LAG1 --- GS1900-24
    [GS1900-8] --- LAG1 --- GS1900-24
    [GS1900-8] --- PC
    [GS1900-8] --- Satellite receiver
    [GS1900-8] --- Pioneer AV receiver
    [GS1900-8] --- LAG2 -- VMware ESXi 6.5
    [GS1900-8] --- LAG2 -- VMware ESXi 6.5
[GS1900-8] --- iLO port on HP Microserver Gen8

    Hi @hopkins35,

    Thanks for your information.

Accroding to your description, it seems that you don't have a FritzBox 6490 but still have the reboot symptom on GS1900-8.
Therefore, the issue might have more possibilities that is related to the NAS.
We are working on finding the root cause now.
Hope you may share us your model name and firmware version of NAS. Is it Synology or QNAP NAS or others?

I will PM you latter for the further information.

    Thanks.

Hello Zyxel_Jason, thank for the PM, I will get it installed and do some packet capturing.

My NAS is a QNAP TS569 Pro which is powered down for all but a couple of hours one day a week when it backs up my file server, it does however still have connectivity as it's set to WOL. The NAS is directly connected to my GS1900-24 which is rock solid. Definitely no Fritzbox on my network!

I've done some more testing over the weekend and removed the aggregated trunk links (red lines on my diagram) so that all switches only have a single link and I found that:
    • The better of the two GS1900-8 stayed up for 2 days before a random reboot and has currently been up for 1 day, 21 hours. So in nearly 4 days it's rebooted once, which is an improvement on multiple reboots although still not perfect!
    • The other, the worst of the two, hasn't rebooted once in nearly 4 days compared to multiple times an hour

I'm leaning more towards a LAG config issue rather than a specific device as a result of what I've seen.

As mentioned I will try the beta firmware and capture some packets!

    Steve
