Hello! I tried to update my firmware, but for some mystical reason it failed. There was this timer (300sec) to wait and after that, it just said that update failed etc. After that I couldn't access my router settings, so I tried to reset the whole router. No my router isn't working at all, power is on at it shows that my computer is active (LAN), but I can't access internet or get any kind of connection from it.

I tried to manually change my IP and all sorts of stuff, but nothing. I'm helpless, please tell me what to do to make it work again!

Sincerely,

Markus from Finland

    Hi Makkeli,

    You can try HW reset:
    1. Power off NBG6616.
    2. Press and hold the reset button at the back of NBG6616, then power on NBG6616.
    3. Waiting for more than 3 seconds, then release HW reset button that you press and hold.

Or another way to recover NBG6616:
    1. Install Tftpd32
    2. In the Windows network adapter, manually set the IP address as 192.168.1.33, netmask 255.255.255.0
    3. Download firmware from ftp://ftp2.zyxel.com/NBG6616/firmware/
    4. Copy firmware file into the tftp directory and name it "ras.bin"
    5. Push HW WPS button, and then boot on NBG6616 (You will see file transfer in Tftpd32, and then release button)
    6. Wait for around 3~5 minutes, after the image has been flashed all LEDs will blink fast
    7. Reboot NBG6616, recovery done

    Hi Hill!

I tried both of those methos, but I can't seem to make these work. When I install that Tftpd32 and try that recovery, I can't see anything happening on Tftpd32 software, so there isn't anything transfering. Should i put that "ras.bin" to some specific folder/directory, 'cause I just created a folder to my desktop and put it there, and then on Tftpd tried to open it there.

This is what Tftpd's log says when I try to update it:

    "Connection received from 192.168.1.1 on port 1825 [06/03 18:31:51.748]
Read request for file <ras.bin>. Mode octet [06/03 18:31:51.749]
File <ras.bin> : error 2 in system call CreateFile Määritettyä tiedostoa ei löydy. [06/03 18:31:51.750]
    Connection received from 192.168.1.1 on port 2712 [06/03 18:31:58.779]
Read request for file <ras.bin>. Mode octet [06/03 18:31:58.779]

    Hello Makkeli,

    Please refer to below description.
    NBG6616<LAN Port>---[Ethernet Cable]---NB

First, you need to set a IP on your NB's network card.

And on TFTP page, you need to assign the directory which stored ras.bin, and IP interface.

Confirm the information is correct about directory and interface.

Then, push HW WPS button, and then boot on NBG6616 (You will see file transfer in Tftpd32, and then release button).

Wait for around 3~5 minutes, after the image has been flashed all LEDs will blink fast, then reboot NBG6616 manually.

I have the same issue with my NBG6616
After a firmware update, it died completely.

However, I can't ping 192.168.1.1 even though I boot and hold down the WPS button at the same time

Is it completely dead, or are there any other opportunities to communicate with it

After power up, the Power lamp turns off again and only Ethernet Port 1 is on / flashing. where my network cable is connected. All other lamps are off.

After upgrading to new firmware, it did not come back into operation.

I waited 20 minutes, then restarted it, and then it was dead.

Is there anything i can do ?

What is the Firmware recovery procedure you are talking about?

    Hi Hill

I have tried your recovery procedure several times, but with no luck.

Everything is set up as described, but I see no Transfer window pop up.
Local IP adress is setup as described.

I can't see I've done anything wrong, it just seems like NBG6616 is dead

Lan 1 LED on the router is on, but nothing happens.

    Firmware: ftp://ftp2.zyxel.com/NBG6616/firmware/V1.00(AARO.8)C0.bin
Do you download NBG6616 firmware and rename as "ras.bin", then put it on "C:\Program Files\Tftpd64"?
