Is this a good 16 port gigabit switch? If not, what are some good recommendations?

I don't have gigabit internet but want to future proof this purchase.
Also, do I connect the ethernet wire from the modem into any of these slots, and then I connect a Ethernet wire from the switch to the router?
Or do I cinema hd connect the ethernet wire from the modem to the router, then a wire from the router to any of these slots?
Thanks

You connect a modem to router then router to switch usually.

Nothing wrong with having a gigabit internal netwerk, no matter which bandwidth your uplink to internet has. The devices in your network can talk at gigabit speed to each other.ksleinwe said:I don't have gigabit internet but want to future proof this purchase.
