Any use of USG20?
Options
Hello everybody
A newbie question - at customer's found an USG20 box, FW 3.30(BDQ.9).
Nobody remembers who installed it. Now it is used as a border between LAN and Wireless LAN, no connection to WAN. No licenses installed.
Is there any sense in putting it into service at a proper place as firewall (they use soft firewall now - Kerio)? Or is this box is old and oudated with no support and updates so it's better to forget about it?

Hi @Al_SPbCurrently, the USG20's license support is EOL.You may consider using USG20-VPN or other higher-level USG Flex/ATP series devices to be your main router. Those newer devices can be deployed in on-premise mode or on-cloud(Nebula) mode. That can help you do a more flexible deployment.

I use USG20W behind a NAT as VPN Endpoint. Does some things nice, but not that fast or featured.A VDSL 30/3 connection could saturate the bandwidth capable. I should not suggest to rely as primary router/security device into a network.0

Thanks for answering,Actually concerned LAN is quite small - 7 desktops, a couple of printers/scanners and one Wi-Fi access point so USG performance is not a problem.
I meant if they switch from SW firewall (it runs on their DC server so it's not good) to USG, so there are questions of licensing and support for antivirus/IDS etc. Do they get it with such old HW/FW?0 -
AFAIK no licenses available for that device.
