Issue Description:

We identified a problem with firmware upgrades on repeater APs in versions 6.45P0, 6.50P0, and 6.50P1. When attempting to upgrade the firmware via Nebula, it will display a firmware upgraded fail message and reboot. the repeater AP is unable to upgrade firmware.

Noted: This issue has no impact on the overall functionality of the product and doesn't affect the firmware upgrades of root AP.

Affected Scope:

Models:  NWA110AX, NWA210AX, WAX510D, WAX610D, WAX630S, WAX650S, NWA220AX-6E, WAX620D-6E, WAX640S-6E, WAX655E

Firmware version: 6.45P0 ,6.50P0 and 6.50P1

AP Role: Enable Smart Mesh > Repeater

Solutions:

Upgrade the firmware to version 6.50P2

There are 3 ways to upgrade the firmware.

1.     Connect the repeater to the ethernet that can reach internet and upgrade to a firmware version to 6.50P2 via Nebula

226-Could not open data connection to port 49546: Operation timed out
    226-firmware verifying...
    226 file damaged!!

We also have 2 other customer sites that we can't remote access unless involving customer. Not acceptable!

Can you share how you assist customers in upgrading firmware via FTP?
In our experience, we suggests that if you are inconvenirnt to involve the customer or site visit, you can use gateway to do VPN or remote access to the customer's computer on the same network as the AP.  And you can do the ftp successfully.
The firmware file has been tested and confirmed to be undamaged. Please let us know the status of your connection.

Our customers are just normal users with no technical insight. That's why it's inconvenient to involve them because they ask stupid questions to why this needs to involve them etc.

I was able to VPN into one site and doing a FTP transfer in a command prompt - that failed as explained. I was able to do a FTP transfer with WinSCP with success.

I have 2 other sites under the same organization, where i'm not able to VPN into. I unfortunately had to involve the customer where we attached a network cable, did the firmware upgrade and unplugged the cable again. This customer did ask funny questions about this!

    To all Zyxel represenatives.

Hiccups and problems happens, all the time. But the more issues and limits Nebula encounters, the less I'm considering Nebula as an option for managing devices.

Because the number of issues directly (on site) managing devices is… lower, most of the times. If Nebula isn't at least on par compared to a small pc with a remote assistance tool… Nebula is not worth the effort for some kind of customers.
