Why is a DHCP offer not routed by gs1920-24hp to a client on the ap wax510d
Options
Hi everyone
I am a bit puzzled about a problem with assigning an IP address to a wireless client.
I have configured two static untagged VLANs on the GS1920. VID 1 is the company network, VID 2 is the management network for the WAX510D AP.
The wireless client is supposed to be a member of the company network VLAN 1.
I did a packet capture on both VLANs and see that the DHCP discover from the wireless client is routed to the DHCP server in VLAN 1. But the DHCP offer from the DHCP server does not get back to the client. I do not see the packet on the VLAN 2 ports.
With my limited knowlegde I would assume the client to be in the same broadcast domain as the DHCP server.
I also see the clients MAC address in the switches MAC table is assigned to VID 1 / VLAN 1.
So I would expect the switch to consider the wireless client to be a member of VLAN 1 and route the DHCP offer accordingly.
Obviously I am wrong. Does anyone know why?
Thanks and kind regards.

Hi @ts867,Since the SSID is VID 1, the AP will add VLAN 1 tag to the DHCP packet and forward to the uplink.I recommend changing the VLAN 1 port 23 from untagged to tagged to solve this misconfiguration.
