Upgrading USG20-VPN firmware

Options

I have a USG20-VPN with following firmware:

I first tried to upgrade directly to 5.35 without success.

The firmware file is accepted, and the upgrade seems to be processed.

I have no error, but at the end the firmware remains unchanged (even after reboot).

Afterwards, I have seen that it is prefereable to upgrade first to version 5.10, but it changed nothing.

I also tried the ZON utility: after few minutes, the status changes from "updating…" to "No response to update firmware"

Any idea or suggestion of what I have to unlock this situation ?

Best regards

    Please follow the steps to upgrade the firmware.

    1. Backup the startup-config.conf of running partition
    2. Switch to the current standby partition which is 4.62 in your case
    3. Upgrade to 5.35 with the original running partition which is the 4.65 one in your case
    4. Apply the startup-config.conf which you backup at step 1
    5. remove the user named "ftp-users" or any user which are not created by the administrator.
    6. Change the password of all the admin/user account
    7. Upgrade another partition to 5.35 also

    Hi

    i brought myself bad luck..😣

    today same issue with an USG40 running fw 4.65

    Online upgrade, manual update and ftp transfer seems to be accepted (both stand-by and running partition); but the device never reboot itself at the end (counter over 19 min.).

    After a manual reboot the fw version doesn't change.

    Tried with fw 4.71, 4.72, 4.73, same result.

    Ideas?

    Best Regards

    Lorenzo

    @Zyxel_James

    It seems abnormally simple when we follow your recommandations.

    It works !

    Thanks for your help

    Even if, I still don't understand why the USG20-VPN was locked in this state…

    Why switching onto the standby partition (in my case downgrade) unlocked this situation ?

    @leplagiste79

    It could be related to firmware corruption on the running partition.
