Disabling DSL Router Restart/Reboot

Is there a way that I could disable the restarts that can be done remotely? I want to eliminate this as a possible cause before I do a replacement of the DSL modem/router.

  I know this can be done, but how is this done remotely?

  I am near the bottom rung as far as knowing much about this tech stuff.
