In a simple network you can have LAN1 192.168.1.1/24 and LAN2 192.168.2.1/24 your devices in each network point to there gateway you then have a firewall rules to all say LAN1 to WAN and LAN2 to WAN then to have LAN2 access LAN1 you do LAN2 to LAN1

We have a policy route and a security policy to control traffic from/to and allow/reject. It is flexible to configure based on your application/scenario
