USG FLEX H – GUI is cumbersome to use

The new GUI, as it is currently presented, is a total step backwards. Do we really have to select every rule to be changed via the checkbox before we can edit it?

The previous drop-down menus were never particularly sophisticated, but compared to the cumbersome editing functions in the FLEX H series, I already sorely miss the old menus.

Can anyone explain the advantages of the new menu? Is there perhaps an idea behind it that the devices should be programmed with a touch screen in future?

    Hi @PhilippeB,

In the next version 1.20, you can double click on the rule directly without selecting the checkbox and clicking "Edit".

    Hi @kruess,

    • 1.20 release plan: Late Apr. 2024
    • In 1.10, CLI for DHCP extended options is supported. Configuration on web GUI will be supported in the future release.

    usgflex200h> edit running
usgflex200h running config# vrf main dhcp server subnet <subnet> dhcp-options
    usgflex200h running dhcp-options# dhcp-server-identifier

    • UX is improved in 1.20. Here is the layout of 1.20 for your reference.

Ufff, and when will v1.20 be available? Will it also contain the DHCP Options?

What about a more condense layout? Currently, the GUI is loosing soooo much valuable space by all that empty room (ie between the lines, etc) and requires much more scrolling compared to the GUI of the previous models (ATP).

    Hi Emily

Thanks for the code snippets - I've been able to adopt those to our urgent DHCP fine-tuning requirements. Interestingly, the "user-defined" options only allow 3 params (code#, type, value), but usually (and also on the ATP/USG series) that one consisted of 4 params (name, code#, type, value).

Also, I could not figure out how to add several IP addresses to the option "ntp-server". I've tried to separate those with ' ' ';' ',' or add " around the value list, but it did not work.

    BfN, Konrad

Hopefully version 1.20 will also contain many corrections, because the GUI crashes regularly and often there is no other option but to restart the device.

Yeah, it's awful to work with this GUI. So many missing things, unexpected behaviour, instabilities - even instabilities of the device itself, not only the GUI…. :-((( It's kind of pre-alpha state, but already sold as the gadget. 😬

    Hi @PhilippeB,

Which USG FLEX H model are you using? We can send the firmware with several bug fixes to you in private message to verify the GUI crash issue.

We'll be very happy to try it. It is a FLEX 200H (we have it running with firmware 110ABWV1ITS-23WK50-r288617f4).

Another thing is the new dropdown menu which always appears in the right bottom of the screen. On huge screens it's a little bit strange:
