I have a question about Green Ethernet. What is the difference / advantage between EEE, Auto Power Down & Short Reach. Can I enable all of them on all port ?

Regards,

Edouard

    Hi @Edouard ,

Zyxel's Green Ethernet includes features like Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), Auto Power Down (APD), and Short Reach, all designed to save energy. EEE adjusts power use based on traffic, APD turns off inactive ports, and Short Reach optimizes power by adjusting the transmit power according to the length of cable.

You can choose the method that best fits your specific scenario. We suggest:

    • Turn on EEE and APD for energy savings with minimal performance impact scenario.
    • If you have short cables, enable Short Reach.
    • After enabling these features, check your network's performance to make sure it's still running smoothly. If the performance is not as expected, please try unplugging and re-plugging the cable or disabling the feature.
    • Before turning on any Green Ethernet features, make sure your devices are compatible.

A power meter plug or a power meter may help you check the values you need.
