Zyxel NAP102 AP’s not switching to standalone mode after removing from Nebula

Dear forum users,

I recently purchased two second-hand access points (Zyxel NAP102). These devices were previously registered in Nebula. Using the Zyxel Nebula app and the QR codes on the devices, I was able to register them in Nebula again, and everything works as expected.

However, when I remove the APs from Nebula (using Remove from organization), the APs reboot, and I can log in using the default username and password. Despite this, the APs do not seem to operate in standalone mode. On the AP dashboard, I see the following:

Nebula Connectivity Status:
This access point is successfully connected to the Nebula.

Nebula Control Center Activation Status:
This access point has not been registered to the Nebula.

I have also tried resetting the APs using the physical reset button, but this did not resolve the issue.
Additionally, I was able to connect to the APs via SSH using PuTTY, but I could not find any commands to reset them to factory settings or determine if such a reset is even possible.

Could anyone help me please configure these APs to fully operate in standalone mode?

Thank you in advance.

    Hi @Nico45

The NAP102 model is specifically designed for management through the Nebula Control Center (NCC) and does not support standalone mode. This means the APs will always attempt to connect to Nebula CC for management and configuration.

I recommend continuing to manage your NAP102 APs on Nebula CC, as Nebula CC provides a range of powerful benefits:

    • Centralized Management: Manage all your network devices remotely through a single platform, perfect for handling multiple sites or locations without needing to be physically present.
    • Real-time Monitoring and Alerts: Keep track of your network’s health and performance in real time, with alerts for any issues, allowing you to address them quickly.
    • Advanced Network Settings: Easily configure SSIDs, access controls, and security settings tailored to your network needs.

If you'd like assistance with any specific settings on Nebula CC or have other questions about Nebula CC's features, feel free to reach out. We’re here to help!
