Sloooow CLI

Hi

I am using a XS1930-12HP with the L3 license. I have Cisco and Netgear prosafe switches and use CLI most of the time.

The switch works well. This is just a comment to zyxel staff…

I must say the CLI on this Zyxel is really slow. Just show running-config takes 3-4 sec of thinking before rolling up on screen. My old Netgear prosafe CLI that has just half the cpu spec compared to this zyxel is formula one compared to this CLI. OK, I can live with this if the switch is just working as it should (and it does). I am not living in the CLI :) But… I really don't understand why it is so slow. I have testet both ssh and unsecure telnet. A test and run "show tech-support" and the cli hanged for 30 sec. Ok it fetches a lot of info and you do not do this often, or maybe never... But it is really slow anyway. Sometimes I thought the switch hanged, but noted it was just the CLI that freezed for a while and came back xx sec later. "walking around" by entering interfaces and vlan configs seem ok though.

I just think the CLI could be a little snappier as it is among the slowest I have used.

Or do I maybe have a config error?

    Hi @peos42,

Could I clarify with you that:

    1. What's your current firmware?
    2. Could you share your configuration so I can check?

I will send you a communtiy message for the configuration.

    Hi @peos42,

After checking, I found that Netgear, Cisco, and Zyxel have different behaviors for "show running configuration."

Netgear and Cisco display it with pages by default. Our behavior is to display the whole configuration at one time. Since the default behaviors are different, the display time will also differ.

In addition, we have a command "show running-configuration page," which is similar to Netgear and Cisco's default behavior. I have checked, and the display time is much shorter than "show running-configuration." Please give it a try.

    Hope it helps.
