Hi there,

I'm struggling to fnd a compatible 4G access point to setup in bridge fail-over mode with my XGS1930-28HP switch.

I have found the LTE7460-M608 which seems to be ok but hard to provision in retailers..

Any advice of product to substitute ? is the Lte7480-m804 a potential fit ?

Regards,

Alain

    Hi @Alaindelafosse

Could you please provide more details about the setup you're aiming for? Specifically, are you looking to use the 4G device for backup internet connectivity in the event of primary link failure?

Typically, the LTE devices you mentioned (LTE7460-M608 and LTE7480-M804) would need to be connected to a router or firewall, which then connects to a switch or access point for the internal network.

For reference, here is an application diagram that might help clarify the setup:

    Looking forward to your response!

    Hello Kay,

My current setup is as following

    Internet Fiber box provider ——SFP+—-—|Switch|——Ethernet——|PC|x10

I'd like to set up a fail-over solution with 4G connectivity LTE device.

My understanding is that I can connect the LTE device to my switch in bridge mode.

    LTE Device ———|Switch| ————Ethernet ———|PC|x10

Following your response, I understand I need to setup a router for the IP traffic between the LTE device and my switch ?

    LTE Device ———|Router or FW| ————|Switch| ————Ethernet ———|PC|x10

The LTE device doesn't provide this functionality ?

    Regards, Alain

    Hi @Alaindelafosse

To clarify, the XGS1930-28HP does not have a WAN link failover feature since it’s a switch and not a router or firewall.

Based on your requirements, if you would like to achieve failover from your fiber connection to a cellular WAN via an LTE device, your setup would need to include a router or firewall with WAN failover functionality. The updated network diagram would look like this:

The router or firewall would handle the failover logic, switching to the LTE connection if the fiber link goes down.

Alternatively, if you're looking for a simpler solution, you might consider the other mobile routers like the Nebula FWA510 or Nebula FWA505. These devices support both cellular and Ethernet WANs and come with built-in Dual WAN Failover capabilities. This means they can manage failover directly without needing an additional router/firewall.
