USG310 and USG110 supported AP's for managed mode

Guy's appreciate that these are now discontinued products, but I am trying to get a USG310 with the latest firmware to work as a wlan controller for a NWA-3560-N AP, the AP is also running the latest firmware (I think it was 5.1) and set to managed mode.

I have followed the various turorials but I cannot get the AP to work in the 5G band, I know it's set up correctly, but having set up an ssid for 2.4g (2gSSID) and another for 5G( 5GSSID), assigned each to the relevant profile, I get nothing on the 5GHz band, but see both SSID's on 2.4GHz.

I've tried it with a USG110 using the latest firmware and that does exaclty the same.

The two AP's work perfectly on two bands in standalone mode with the seperate SSID on each band.

Is there any documetation which explains exactly which AP's are fully supported in managed mode on the USG110 and the USG310?

This will NOT be used in a production enviroment, it's purely in a test building, and has no internet connectivity so cloud / Nebula is a non starter unfortunately.

I just need the USG to manage the two physically seperate AP's on a private network.

@Melen, thankl you for that information, then it looks like the NWA3560-N is supported, but I tried for two days to get it to work on 5G and could not.

I will try again this afternoon, and confirm exactly which firmware versions I have on the AP and the USG and post back if that is ok.

I'll do a factory reset on the USG110 as that is currently unused and start from scratch, that way I can post my configuration if required.

lease standby for an updat later today.

I have reset the USG110 to factory defaults, the device firmware shows 4.73 AAPH.2, the NWA3560-N is showing 2.23 UJC.8, I have reset the AP to factory default and set it to managed mode from the browser.

It is showing up when I go to the 'Wireless' then 'AP management' page in the USG and has a DHCP provided IP address in the correct vlan, but I cannot add it to managed the option is greyed out, If I go into the 'Firmware' tab on the USG, for the NWA3560-N it shows v5.10(UJC.3) then 'Device Storage is not enough'.

I have no firmware later than 2.23 UJC.8, so does the mesaage above mean I need to get 5.10(UJC.3) to make it work? if that is the case, where would I find it, it isn't listed on the Zyxel download page, nor under the 'end of life' products from what I can see.

Further update, I left everything connected up and with an internet connection on the WAN port of the USG and after some time, it now seems to have updated itself, I am able to manage the NWA3560 and the firmware version now shows as 5.10(UJC,3)

But exactly the same thing happens, the default profile I have which is set for Radio 2 on 5G shows on 2.4GHz as does the one for 2.4GHz.

    Two SSID's one SSID-24G and SSID-5G for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, I see both SSID's on 2.4GHz and none on 5GHz.

Everything is default settings after the factory reset apart from the SSID names.

These are some ofthe error messages in the AP error log.

    Hi @tsteele

You cannot find NWA3560-N on the end-of-life webpage because it has been phased out for many years.

May I know if you have any service you cannot use after the upgrade?

Sorry I don't know what you mean bt in your first reply you show that the NWA3560-N is supported in firmware 4.73 patch 2 for the USG110 / 310, so I am unsure as to why I cannot get it to work, and why I am seeing both SSID's in the 2.4GHz band and none in the 5GHz band, when I have set profile 'default_2' to be 5GHz.

I assume it is to do with this error message in the log '

    ERROR: #configure terminal wlan-radio-profile default2_slot2 band 5G band-mode anacax,

    '

    Hi @tsteele,

So the 5G radio does not work, is that correct?

The error message could be due to the firmware version or the existing configuration. Please check:

    1. The AP firmware version. Ensure it is running 5.10.
    2. Factory default the AP to remove the existing configuration that you using before.

In addition, since NWA-3560-N has reached its End of Life (EOL) status, which means our support for this model will be limited. If you need any information on alternative options, please feel free to ask or you can refer to the available models:

Further update, looking at the NWA3560 config from the CLI, the 'config-wlan-radio default_slot2' section has

    2g-channel 6

    5g-channel 36

there is no 'band 5g' , if I do 'configure terminal' then wlan-radio-profile default_2 then try and enter band 5g, I get the message

' % Command removed due to the platform upgrade. You can look up the new commands in the release notes or use tab or ? to get command help'

Looing at the help, with ? I see band and it says band is a command, so doing 'band ?' gives me 2.4G and 5G, but I am unable to enter either command I just get the error message above.

I can confirm the AP firmware is :-  5.10(UJC.3)

5G does not work in managed mode, in standalone mode it works perfectly, both SSId's 'default' and 'default_2' are visible when I scan wifi on my laptop, but they are both on 2.4GHz there is no SSID on 5GHz, on the USG I have checked and 'default_2' is set to 5GHz.

The AP and the USG were both factory defaulted
