expand network with GS1920-24
hello,
I would like to expand my network, currently I have the switch GS1920-24 and I would like to add another switch to extends the gigabit port number availability. I was wondering if I can use the SFP ports to attach another switch (any suggestion for a fan-less switch with SFP?) . Is there some special configuration I have to setup or it is enough to create a physical link with 2 SFP connectors and a 10 gbit CAT 7 cable in the middle?

So you can just link two switches by SFP or ethernet and that will work which would mean one switch all other ports by it are limited to 1Gb to the next switch. If you need more bandwidth between the switches you can do LAG to have like 2-4 ports or more between switches for more bandwidth based on a hash like src-ip
so say you have two GS1920-24 and you LAG on both ports 27-28 with hash src-ip
Switch A
PC1 192.168.0.2
PC2 192.168.0.3
Switch B
PC3 192.168.0.4
PC4 192.168.0.5
when PC1 download a file from PC3 it be a 1Gb
when PC2 download a file at the same time as above from PC4 it be a 1Gb
where as no LAG you be limited to 1Gb and both PC1 and PC2 from PC3 and PC4 at the same time be at 500Mb if connection thread is the same.

thank you so much for the explanation. It's my fault , since I thought SFP on my switch was 10Gb but it is not, so I think I will use an eth port instead. Unfortunately I will have the limitation to 1Gb (across all the ports) on the second switch
