Will FWA510 work with WiFi roaming? Does it have VLAN configuration?

So, my brother bought a FWA510 w/o asking me for advice and now I have some questions.

First what in case he will have poor WiFi in some rooms? I expect this router will work with WiFi-roaming, but I failed to find it in specs. Will it? Which AP will be the best for that?

Does it have proper VLAN configuration or only "guest WiFi"?

We live in separate locations and I want to connect via WireGuard. Does Zyxel provide such a thing?

    Hi @webnoob,

    Welcome to Zyxel Community!

The FWA510 does not support mesh networking, but you can still achieve seamless WiFi coverage by connecting additional Zyxel APs to its LAN port.

Zyxel APs such as the NWA50AX and NWA90AX support WiFi roaming standards like 802.11k/v/r, which help client devices roam between APs more smoothly. When managed via Nebula Cloud, you can configure roaming features in Nebula Control Center by navigating to Site-wide > Configure > Access points > SSID advanced settings

    To ensure smooth roaming:

    • Use the same SSID and security settings across all APs
    • Ensure their wireless coverage areas overlap by about 15–20%

    VLAN Support

The FWA510 supports guest WiFi, which isolates guest traffic from the main network. However, it does not support VLAN. You can find setup instructions in the User's Guide.

    WireGuard & Remote Management

The FWA510 does not support WireGuard VPN. However, if the device is registered in Nebula, and your organization is the Nebula Pro Pack Organization, you can use the Remote Configurator feature to access and configure the FWA510 remotely. For more details, please refer to this FAQ.
