two MG-108 switches cannot be found during discovery — I have a laptop connected to a wireless access point that is plugged directly in to the switch… do I need to be directly connected?

    Hi @markcampbell65,

    Welcome to Zyxel Community!

The MG-108 is an unmanaged multi-gigabit switch, which means it does not have a web interface or support for device discovery via Nebula, ZON, or similar tools. That’s why it won’t appear during a discovery scan — regardless of whether you are connected via Wi-Fi or directly with a cable.

If you simply want to verify the switch is working, you can try this method:

    Ping test

    • Connect two devices to different ports on the MG-108.
    • Make sure they are on the same IP subnet.
    • From one device, ping the other.
    • If you receive replies, the MG-108 is forwarding packets correctly.

If you require remote management or discovery features, you may consider one of our managed switch models, such as XS1930-10 or XMG1915-10E, which fully supports these functions and also offers multi-gigabit capabilities.
