Remote site with 5G access

hi,

I have a USG FLEX100, with several VLANs configured. I will need a 5G Wifi router on a remote site and want to add a site to site VPN to that router, so that I can extend some of the VLANs to that site.

I have two questions:

  1. Which Wifi products support this, or are there any. For example, does FWA510 support site-to-site VPN?
  2. Will the site-to-site VPN require some specific licenses to work, or is purchasing the device and having the Nebula pro pack enough?

yours,

Jouni

    Hi @jtk

    1. FWA510 doesn't support site-to-site VPN. The suitable models for supporting site-to-site VPN and 5G band Wi-Fi (AC/AX) are USG Lite 60AX/USG FLEX 50AX/ USG FLEX 100AX.
    2. No, Site-to-site VPN doesn't need any license.

Currently there is not 5G mobile broadband with site to site or VLAN support all in one and the problem is you can't use the FWA510 wifi with a FLEX100 doing site to site due to client going to FWA510 gateway and no VLAN...but their might be a way to do a one subnet site to site with FWA510 and FLEX100 (or FLEX100H might be better as it has configurable ports) with wifi support by FWA510 but likely you need a WAN type as general with DHCP server that points clients to FLEX100H as gateway then routing rule to go out the FWA510 gateway for internet...might work.

Or you just have to get a USG with wifi or a AP to do the whole setup.

When you say 5G wifi you mean 5G mobile broadband?

The FWA510 itself does not support site-to-site VPN but with like a FLEX100 it can to another FLEX100 if that end can accept inbound to make the tunnel.

Yes, I meant 5G mobile broadband connection as WAN, providing wifi for the local users.

    Thank you for your reply.

I guess I will need to buy a separate mobile router with an ethernet port and use it to provide WAN for the FLEX 50AX or Lite 60AX. It looks like there are some small ones available at a reasonable price, aimed for IoT applications.
