ZyWALL USG20W-VPN - WLAN broke after V5.41(ABAR.0) upgrade
Hello,
I upgrade from 5.40 to 5.41 and now my usual WLAN ssid does not work anymore. It keeps connecting / disconnecting. This happen from iPhone and from Arlo webcam. I tried to upload the 5.40 config file but problem remains.
Also, strange fact: after logging in into 5.41 I get the error "wrong cli cmd…" but then everything seems to work, except WLAN of course.
If I reboot with previous firmware (5.40) everything work smoothly as before.
I tried comparing the two config-files and the only differences are related to WLAN (especially security configs…?). Wanted to modify by hand… but still tooo scared of trying.
I'm a bit scared of saving config / reset zywall / reload-config since my configuration is very complex, I also have 2 VPN tunnels that MUST work. (I'm working from home-office).
Thanks for suggestions,
nIc

So USG20W-VPN is the controller for your AP? or is the AP standalone?

Hello Peter,
Yess, USG20W-VPN WLAN is configured as the AP itself, no other AP in this office.I also tried to modify an existing default "Zyxel" SSID with my configs but it has the same problem, 2/3 secs connected then 30/60 secs trying to reconnect…
Too bad you cannot remove unused ones and create new ones…

Arr yes this USG had built in AP
Can you see the SSID by phone app scanner?
You may have to start over for AP settings clearly dose not like something or go over settings like is the AP in the AP group member with SSID to Radio settings are SSID setup right to security profile or try making SSID and security profile.

We had this same issue on a customer's USG20W-VPN (USG FLEX 50W) unit when going from 5.40 to 5.41.
I had to rebuild the SSID as a new name, such as <SSID>2. For some reason, trying to rebuild the original SSID did not work if I used the same name, no matter what I tried. I used the same security settings and password (so that was not the issue).
Try adding a 2 behind the SSID name and check if that works. Of course, you will have to change all the devices that connect to it to use the new name.

Hello DeanH. I already tried that, also. Various combinations. That didn’t work for me… 😢

Hi @nikita,
By default, the WLAN profile on USG20W-VPN uses LAN1 and LAN2 as the outgoing interfaces.
To further investigate:
- Could you please share both of the configuration files with us?
- Kindly confirm that in your SSID settings, is the outgoing interface set to LAN2? If yes, please temporarily change it to LAN1, apply the setting, and test again.
Thank you for your cooperation!

- I could share conf files but only in a private way, what do you propose?
- Yess I did that too.
3. From your other mail/post: is the issue identified and is there (or will be) a newer firmware that sove my issue?
