    That would be hoghly contraproductive.

Why Isn’t Wi-Fi Signal Symmetric in Real Life?

On paper, RF communication is symmetric:
if the AP’s signal reaches the client, then the AP should just as easily hear the client, because antennas have the same gain for transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx).

In reality, this is only true in theory.
The problem is that the client’s transmit power is usually much weaker, so the AP often cannot properly decode the client’s signal, even if the client hears the AP perfectly well.

Why does this happen? Two main reasons:

    1. The client decides which data rate to use, and it does this based on how strong the AP’s signal is.
If the AP signal is strong, the client picks a high data rate - even if its own return signal is too weak for the AP to decode.
    2. The client’s signal often gets buried in noise before it reaches the AP.
The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) becomes too low, so the AP cannot demodulate the returning packets.

Today I found the AP that I manually change (via ssh) the rssi-kickout option to -85 to be on a state that nothing worked and was very hot. I unplugged it and after it got cold I connected it again and worked fine. The change I had made via ssh was gone. Is it possible my config change via ssh to have such an effect or it was something else?

    Hi @malakudi

This issue should be less related with the ssh configuration change but due to other problem. May I know which AP got stuck? Could you help to collect the diagnostic file and enable Zyxel support access for us to check?
