NWA130BE - Firmware V7.30(2) breaks WDS

We understand you're experiencing an issue with WDS functionality on your NWA130BE access points after upgrading from firmware V7.20(3) to V7.30(2), and that rolling back to V7.20(3) resolved the problem.

A similar issue has been reported where the uplink interface goes down when configuring a WDS link between two NWA130BE APs after a firmware upgrade to version 7.20. While this report specifically mentions V7.20, it highlights that WDS issues can arise after firmware updates.

To help us investigate this issue with V7.30(2) on your NWA130BE devices, please provide the following information:

Initial Solutions:

• Review WDS Configuration: Carefully re-verify your WDS configuration on both the Root AP and Repeater AP, ensuring that the WDS SSID and Pre-Shared Key are identical.

  • On the Root AP, set Radio 1 (5G band) OP Mode as "Root AP" and choose your WDS Profile.
  • On the Repeater AP, set Radio 1 OP Mode as "Repeater" and choose the same WDS Profile.
  • After configuration, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Repeater AP and reboot it in its intended location.

• Verify WDS Link Status:

  • On the Root AP, navigate to MONITOR > Wireless > WDS Downlink Info to check if the Repeater AP's MAC address is visible.
  • On the Repeater AP, go to MONITOR > Wireless > WDS Uplink Info to confirm if the Root AP's MAC address is displayed.

• Check for Signal Strength: If you are unable to access the repeater AP after WDS mesh is set, it might be due to poor link signal strength.

• Detailed Network Topology: A diagram or description of your network setup, including how the NWA130BE devices are connected (e.g., to a switch, directly to each other for WDS), and the IP addresses of your devices.

  • Screenshots of the WDS configuration pages from both the Root and Repeater APs on firmware V7.30(2).
  • A screenshot of the MONITOR > Wireless > WDS Uplink Info page from the repeater AP when the uplink goes down on V7.30(2).

  • If your NWA130BEs are operating in standalone mode, please collect the diagnostic file after the issue occurs.
