Configuring a Voice VLAN on GS1915 8/24 EP Switch
Reading the User Guide (UG) [Version 4.70 Edition 5, 12/2024] and online posts for Voice VLAN is causing some confusion.
The configuration of OUI is straight forward but what is required beforehand is not, [at present]
I have a Peplink Router with networks 1.1 and 10.1, the GS1915 switch configured for 2 VLANs (1 & 10) all working as required with segregated data (Office on 1.xx vs Guests on 10.xx)
I wish to ensure IP phones in the Office have a priority re quality. (ie Voice VLAN)
Do I need to create a network eg 99.1 in my router and a static 99 VLAN in my GS1915 switch, or will the Zyxel Voice VLAN setup handle phones based on OUI and use VLAN 99 without the former config required? If so I assume the IP phone will still have an ip address of 1.xx
The UG on page 123 for Static VLANs states [Note: Do NOT add a VLAN ID that has been used in the Voice VLAN Setup]. Online examples (different switches, but the UI looks the same) do create a Static VLAN for Voice before then, enabling & assigning a Voice VLAN and configuring OUI, hence the confusion.
Can anyone advise re GS1915 switches for Voice VLAN setup?
TIA

You do need to create a static VLAN ID 99 first and configure Voice VLAN to 99.

Thanks, I have created the VLAN on the router and switch. Successfully connected a laptop and an Access Point, the latter handles wifi on .1.xx and 99.xx (I now know the config is good, re tagging)
I am waiting for our IP Phone provider to advise how we can update the phone to be VLAN aware and to use VLAN 99.0
