VMG4005-B60A availability in Germany

This Zyxel article makes it very clear—Annex B is required in Germany. The B50A is not a substitute for the B60A. The question is, why does Zyxel only offer the B50A in its own EU store?

    What a ridiculous situation. Retailers like Galaxus, Böttcher, Amazon etc. are selling the B50A to unsuspecting end users in Germany. Who knows, maybe the B50A appears to sync, even though it is clearly the wrong device. Even if Zyxel keeps the B60A in the service provider channel only, failure to mention the distinction on the product page is a major sign of disrespect.

    I recently bought a B50A frome one of the german dealers mentioned and it perfectly connects to a "Telekom Deutschland" VDSL2 super vectoring account:

    "VDSL Training Status: Showtime
    Mode: VDSL2 Annex B
    VDSL Profile: Profile 35b
    G.Vector: Enable
    Traffic Type: PTM Mode"

    The modem connected quite fast and the connection is stable for some days now.

    I'm curious how it will perform when DLM/ASSIA kicks in.

    My guess is that they silently added Annex B to the firmware and forgot to mention it in the docs unfortunately.

    The B50A is for European POTS. The B60A is for European ISDN.

    The bandplan is separate to the type of line, so you can have Annex A & B bandplans on Annex A (POTS) physical infrastructure.

    The VMG4005-B50A works well on BT/Openreach VDSL2 lines in the UK, which use the Annex B bandplan on POTS lines.
