Which firmware update is required to enable AFC for increased power budgets? This AP’s 6Ghz performance is much lower than Ubiquiti AP’s that have AFC enabled

    If you are referring to the Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) feature, please note that the NWA130BE does not support AFC. Therefore, no firmware update will enable AFC on this model.

    Currently, AFC is supported only on our WISP models, specifically the FWA7 Root Plus / Leaf Plus, which are part of our Wi‑Fi 7 WISP PTMP product line.

    Regarding your comment that the NWA130BE’s 6 GHz performance is significantly lower than that of Ubiquiti APs, we would be happy to investigate this further. Could you please provide some additional details, such as:

    • What specific symptoms have you observed (e.g., lower throughput/speed, reduced range/coverage, unstable client connections, higher latency, or something else)?
    • How are you measuring performance (e.g., Speedtest, iperf, specific client devices, signal strength)?
    • What is your network environment/topology?
    • If applicable, could you share screenshots of the test results and the NWA130BE’s 6 GHz radio settings? If the device is managed via Nebula, please enable Zyxel Support Access and provide your org/site names so we can check your device directly.

    —Lower performance in terms of throughput, reduced range, higher latency


    —Testing via iperf3 and Speedtest CLI, as well as checking RSSI


    —Topology is simple:

    FW to Switch via SFP port/direct attached cable, from switch to AP over 2.5 Gbps Cat6


    Have tested 160 and 320 mhz, max power is 30, clients are 802.11be using Qualcomm, Realtek, and Mediatek chipsets

    If standard power was enabled for this device I’m confident it could achieve MCS 11-13 regularly, instead it often is as low as MCS 7

    Regarding the situation you're encountering, we suggest trying a narrower channel to see if the MCS/link rate becomes more stable in your environment. Since A larger bandwidth occupies more spectrum and can pick up more co-channel/adjacent interference, which may cause the link to negotiate a lower MCS to stay stable.

    If the issue persists after adjusting, please kindly share the following:

    • Screenshots of your test results (throughput, RSSI, MCS/link rate), along with the performance you expected versus what you actually observed
    • The Ubiquiti AP model you are comparing against, along with its test results
