Long estimated time to sync additional drive in NAS

Hi, I have an NSA320s. I've been a long time linux user and recently I discovered that in Ubuntu, which I'm mainly usin the SMB1.0 support was disabled in the latest kernels (I do understand why). Is there a safe way to update the NSA320s firmware to support a newer SMB protocol?

So my Twonky server no longer works. It's on, but the web address no longer works. And my Smart TVs show no files being shared. I have two NAS540s, call them NAS1 and NAS2. Normally NAS1 performs a scheduled daily mirror backup to NAS2, and we only actually use NAS1. Due to drive hours, I began to replace the drives in NAS2.
