  • How else I could check if there's any physical storage left on the disks?
  • I can confirm capacity given by SMART and when you hover your mouse over the disk under volume is 14.5TB, not TiB.

    14954.00 GB

in smart. Wired as with the previous volume I could see them as 16TB and I'm confident they are 16TB, - there's 1.5 TB lost.

This is a cat to proc/partitions
    There is no space left.
sda is 15625879552KiB, which is 16000900661200 bytes, which is slightly more than 16TB.
sda2 is 15625378816KiB, so the difference is 500736KiB which is slightly more than the size of sda1.
md0 is 15625377656KiB, so the difference with sda2 is 1160KiB, which is OK for me.

Nope. That GB's are actually GiB's. 14954*1024*1024*1024=160567352361000. Where did we see that number before?

Conclusion: The script which calculates if an expand is possible, is buggy, and chokes in that big numbers. So ignore the button.

  • 14954.00 GB is given by the Smart reading after I installed the smart package.

    Hi Mijzelf,

I believe you've nailed it again. I found it does have parted installed and it worked. Indeed, not much free space left:

How much free space do you think is left from the parted output below?

    Model: Seagate ST16000NM001G-2K (scsi)
    Disk /dev/sda: 15259648MiB
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
    Partition Table: gpt

Number  Start        End          Size         File system  Name       Flags
            0.02MiB      1.00MiB      0.98MiB      Free Space
     1      1.00MiB      488MiB       487MiB       ext2         mitraswap
     2      488MiB       15259647MiB  15259159MiB  ext4         eexxtt44
            15259647MiB  15259648MiB  0.98MiB      Free Space

    Model: Seagate ST16000NM001G-2K (scsi)
    Disk /dev/sdb: 15259648MiB
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
    Partition Table: gpt

Number  Start        End          Size         File system     Name       Flags
            0.02MiB      1.00MiB      0.98MiB      Free Space
     1      1.00MiB      488MiB       487MiB       linux-swap(v1)  mitraswap
     2      488MiB       15259647MiB  15259159MiB  ext4            eexxtt44

Am I correct that there's 1.96MiB free space/unused on each disk (sda and sdb), which minding the 16T, it is very small percentage?

I read the same. And yes, that is a small percentage. 0.00001%, when I'm not mistaken.
