SBG3300-N000 "Firmware upgrade failed. File contains an invalid model id."

Hello
I'm trying to upgrade the firmware on my device. It currently has V1.01(AAZZ.1)C0 installed.
I'm finding it hard to locate the best place to get the firmware files but I've managed to download BG3300-N000_1.01(AADY.9)C0.zip which I unzip and then try to upload the .bin file for a firmware upgrade.
It gives me an error - "Firmware upgrade failed. File contains an invalid model id."
I've stumbled across a few posts mentioning ftp2.zyxel.com and ftp.zyxel.co.uk but when I connect to the server there are only four device models.
Is anyone able to give me any advice?
Thanks
Mark

Hi Sir,
The fw naming is different, it means that you can upgrade from V1.01(AAZZ.1)C0 to 1.01(AADY.9)C0. Can you describe which issue you encounter now? As I know, this model is EOL, there is no fw modify/enhance anymore.

Hello,Thanks for the response, please excuse my confusion but I'm not 100% sure what you propose? Are you saying that I cannot do the upgrade? Or is there some intermediate upgrade path?
Sorry for my ignorance.0 -
Hello @marknewlyn
I guess that you have found the firmware at https://www.zyxel.com/support/cpe_devices_and_small_business_gateways.shtml
If your SBG3300-N000 has not got firmware with AADY in it, then you will probably need to do a clear ROM-D before you can upload the firmware on the Zyxel website.
Did you get the device from your ISP? If so then you could ask them for an upgrade.
If you feel technically competent, then some information at https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=24459.0 might help you, https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,25726.msg432902.html#msg432902 , and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Firmware_Environment . and knowledgeable people there on that forum who might be able to help you clear your device so that you can use the V1.01(AADY.9)C0 firmware.
- you might have to use a USB to 3-wire TTL serial port converter, to get into the device in order to clear the ROM-D partition.
I hope that this is helpful.
Kind regards,
Tony0
