thank you for your explanation.

unfortunately the AP is requesting an IP with one of the wireless interface MACs when it’s acting as repeater.

Therefor, I have to handle them in the DHCP.

is there a way to avoid this behavior?

I've solved my problem, bit I'm not very happy with the solution:

1. a new (management) VLAN for the Zyxel APs was created
2. the firewall rules to allow access to the Nebula cloud where adjusted for the new network
3. all Zyxel APs where reconfigured to use these new VLAN
4. the APs get assigned an IP address from the new network

From now on, the MAC address doesn't matter.

But I can confirm, that the AP which is acting as a repeater requests the IP using the MAC of the wireless interface.

Thanks for your valuable feedback.

Because smart mesh must use wireless interface to communicate between APs, state change in the progress is necessary.

 

For the last part you mentioned, we’ll do the reproduce test to reconfirm and update and result here.

After testing and clarifying the spec, it was confirmed that the behavior of smart mesh is to change the MAC addr to interface with the numerically lowest MAC addr due to smart mesh must use wireless interface to communicate between APs, state change in the progress is necessary.

 

We’ll keep enhance the information delivering to user especially the scenario like yours. Thanks again for your valuable feedback.
