Sync with google drive not working

What is the workaround people are using to get Google Drive connected? I just saw an update to the Google Drive Client on my NAS326, and installed it, and retried connecting Google Drive to me account on the NAS, and got the same error I posted about here when I first got the NAS. I don't see why the client app is being updated but not in a way that fixes our ability to actually use the client. And as I posted before, backing up my cloud storage to a personal NAS was the main reason I bought this device in the first place.

(I click here, a new browser window opens, I'm either signed in to Google already or get prompted to do so, and then this error appears.)

I have prepared an easier Windows installer for the unofficial open-source NAS326 GoogleDriveClient fix discussed in this thread.

The Windows installer contains all required NAS package files. Users do not need to copy the ZYPKG files manually or enter SSH commands.

Tested configuration:

Zyxel NAS326
Firmware V5.21(AAZF.18)
Original GoogleDriveClient 0.5.3zypkg007

Requirements:

• The original Zyxel GoogleDriveClient must already be installed.
• SSH access must be enabled on the NAS.
• The root password is required.
• A Windows x64 computer is required.
• Make an independent backup of important NAS and Google Drive data first.

Easy installation:

1. Download NAS326-Modernizer-Setup-0.3.0.exe.
2. Verify its SHA256 checksum.
3. Run the EXE on a Windows computer.
4. Enter the NAS address, normally NAS326 or its IP address.
5. Enter the NAS root password.
6. Confirm the displayed SSH host-key fingerprint only if this is your NAS.
7. It is recommended to click “Validate only” first.
8. Confirm that you have a backup.
9. Click “Validate and install”.
10. After validation succeeds, confirm the final installation prompt.
11. Refresh the NAS web interface and open the original GoogleDriveClient tile.

The installer automatically uses English, Czech, Slovak, German, or Polish according to the Windows language.

The root password is used only for the current encrypted SSH connection. It is not written to disk, the registry, logs, or configuration and is cleared from the form when the operation finishes.

The EXE is currently unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may show an “Unknown publisher” warning. Please verify the published SHA256 checksum before running it.

What the fix does:

• Keeps the original GoogleDriveClient tile and NAS web interface.
• Replaces the obsolete Google authorization flow.
• Replaces the old grive synchronization engine with rclone 1.75.0.
• Adds 14 languages to the modified NAS interface.
• Creates a rollback backup before replacing program files.
• Does not intentionally remove existing account records or synchronized files.

Google authorization after installation:

1. Create or select a project in Google Cloud.
2. Enable the Google Drive API.
3. Configure the OAuth consent screen.
4. Create an OAuth client with application type “Desktop app”.
5. Download the OAuth client JSON file.
6. Open the GoogleDriveClient tile on the NAS.
7. Download GoogleDrive-Login.zip from the tile.
8. Extract it on a Windows computer.
9. Run Sign-in-Google.cmd and complete Google login in the browser.
10. Paste the generated setup code into the NAS window.
11. Select the NAS user and synchronization folder.
12. Save the account and enable synchronization.
13. Delete GoogleDrive-Setup-Code.txt after successful import because it contains credentials capable of accessing Google Drive.

Important safety information:

• This is two-way synchronization.
• Deletions can propagate from one side to the other.
• Begin with a small test folder.
• The first run merges both sides and resolves conflicts in favor of the newer file.
• The default protection stops a run before propagating more than 25 deletions.
• Replaced or deleted NAS-side files are archived for 30 days.
• These protections are not a replacement for an independent backup.

This is still a beta community release. The Windows installer, embedded package, SSH/SFTP connection, archive, checksums, package dependency, validation-only mode and local Zyxel catalog were tested successfully on a real NAS326. Native installation and removal still need broader testing by other NAS326 owners.

Manual ZYPKG files, source code and checksums are also available in the release.

This is an independent community project and is not affiliated with or officially supported by Zyxel, Google, or rclone.

Feedback is welcome, especially the firmware version used and the results of validation, installation, synchronization and rollback testing.

It was tested on firmware V5.21(AAZF.18) with the original GoogleDriveClient 0.5.3zypkg007.
