There are Router mode and IP Passthrough mode in the Zyxel Mobile Router. This FAQ highlights the difference between the Dynamic and Fixed methods in IP passthrough mode.

  • Dynamic: to allow traffic to be forwarded to the first LAN client (device) on the local network of the mobile router. It means the first client requests an IP address from the mobile router.
  • Fixed: to allow traffic to be forwarded to a specific client (for example, another router or laptop) by entering its MAC address.

Note that: When referring to "the local network of the mobile router," this includes all devices connected to the mobile router.
