DHCP options and login info

Options

Hi !

I'm trying to configure a ZYXEL PM7300 for WAN connection.

It seems there is no possibility to setup a PPPoE encapsulation without credential (username / password) - is there a reason for this or a way to force it ?

Also, DHCP options are only available when I select IPoE, not PPPoE (which is not the case on my other router). Is it also on purpose ? Is there a way to go around ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

I suggest you contact your ISP or retailer for support.

    Hello @Astat

Welcome to the forum. Happy New Year.

The PM7300-T0 I have just found out is a XGS-PON or GPON optical line terminal/optical network terminal (OLT/ONT) see https://www.zyxel.com/service-provider/emea/en/products/fiber-oltsonts/xgs-pon/sfus/pm7300pm5100pm3100-t0-series#

I think that PPPoE is only available with username and password because an ISP would want to use an authentication method such as CHAP to ensure that only allowed users can connect to the PON for security and billing reasons.

I don't know why some DHCP options are not available under PPPoE.

    Kind regards,

    Tony
