If decrease the WLAN rate control:

  • Increase the time for AP to transmit management and control frames
  • Improves accessibility of clients using older hardware that doesn’t support higher WLAN rate

If increase the WLAN rate control:

  • Shortens the time for AP to transmit management and control frames
  • Lessens accessibility of clients using older hardware that does not support this higher WLAN Rate

The path to configure WLAN rate control: Site-wide > Configure > Access points > Radio setting
