Zyxel air app only showing 4G

I definitely have 5G as FWA 710 internet speed test on PC reporting 140mb download. (also phone carrier status reports 5G signal). Uisng the air app to best position the router but it only reports on 4G. This may be from a different tower? I need to use the app to optimise 5G form a 5G tower? Can you advise?

FFrom your FWA710 GUI, we can see that it is only connected to 4G.

Moreover, with 4G technology, speeds can exceed 100Mbps, so there should be no difference between the FWA710 GUI and the Zyxel Air app about the signal status.

For your information, the FWA710 is equipped with directional antennas. The simplest way to deploy the FWA710 is to position it facing the tower (base station).

Could you provide the screenshot or more details about the phone carrier status reports indicating a 5G signal? Did you see this information on the FWA710 GUI or somewhere else?

We are using the Zyxel Air APP, version 1.2.2.231227, and it shows the signal status as 5G normally with the 5G SIM and router. Could you please confirm your Zyxel Air version by clicking on the Settings > About tab? If your Zyxel Air APP isn't the latest version, please upgrade and try it again.

I can confiorm that I am using the latets Air App version.

The FWA710 GUI shows below:

The Air App shows below as 4G at a dowmnload speed of 36Mbps

However, connecting directly to the switch (hardwired) reports 130Mbs download speed.

Thank you, Understand, but intrigued as to why the Air app reports 36Mbps download but according to a speed test on the network the FWA710 is apparentky delivering 130Mbs?

Hi @Rommel ,

The speed test on the Zyxel Air app measures the speed between your end device (your phone connected via 2.4GHz wireless) and the server.

The speed test on the PC (web https://www.speedtest.net/) measures the speed between your end device (your PC connected via wired connection) and the server.

The server depends on the ISP and may not be the same as the one used by the speed test website.

This is why the speed tests yield different results.
