Bridging the AX7501-B1
Hi,
my ISP is now using the AX7501-B1 HW for 10Gbit and that is all good. In my setup I want to brige the AX7501-B1 for example WAN to LAN4. After reading the documents I am not sure how to do this but my guess is as follows:
- Create a new WAN interface (Network Setting → Broadband →Add new WAN)
- Call it "BridgeWAN2LAN" set this WAN to bridge mode and save
- Add a new interface group (Nettwork Setting→Interface grouping→Add new…)
- ETH type select "BridgeWAN2LAN" and selected LAN interfaces to LAN4
Is this correct?
Best regards

Hello @JBUL ,
Welcome to the forum.
From reading the user guide for AX7501-B1 at https://spdl.zyxel.com/AX7501-B1/user_guide/AX7501-B1_OPAL-Series%20(EX5601-T0)_UG_V5.15-5.70_Ed17.pdf available from the Downloads and Resources tab of https://www.zyxel.com/service-provider/emea/en/products/fiber-oltsonts/10g-active-fiber/hgus/ax7501-b-series and the following screenshot, I cannot see a separate WAN socket.
So I think that if Bridge mode is used then it will be bridging from the Fiber to the LAN ports.
Section 8.3 of the user guide should also help you, see below extract.
If you were thinking of using the LAN4 port for a Backup WAN if the Fiber SFP connection goes down, then that is apparently possible, see below extract from the user guide.
Kind regards,
Tony

Hi Tony,
and thanks for your quick reply. The physical WAN port on the device is a sfp+ port anand in my case used with a fiber. Now, in the router you can define what WAN is, protocols etc and also if you want DHCP or not. I want the physical WAN IF traffic to be mirrored on the physical LAN4 port (Liming the speed 1Gbps). That is, bridging WAN to the physical LAN4 port. Hence, when I have several IP addresses they are seen on the LAN4 port and can be used as if the AX7501 did not exist.
From the document you cite it is in my view unclear how to achieve the above desired outcome and I'd like some confirmation to what I suggest.
Best regards

Hello Ulf @JBUL
You are welcome.
Maybe this bit of the user guide will help you…if you have more than one IP address allocated by your ISP.
and you would need to use Type of PON or GPON for the Fiber WAN interface I think.
You might want/need to use the Interface Grouping feature to have a specific LAN port go to the fiber WAN in a specific way, see section extract below:
and
I hope that this is helpful.
Kind regards,
Tony
