Scenario/Background
When setting up a wireless network, you might want to extend the WiFi coverage by creating an SSID on a new access point or router that is identical to the existing SSID of your current network. This allows seamless roaming for devices as they move between different areas covered by different access points, ensuring continuous connectivity without needing to switch networks manually.
Configuration Steps
- At Nebula Control Center, navigate to
Configure > Access Points > SSID Settings
. - Toggle the "Advanced mode" switch to enable advanced settings.
- Click on the "Add SSID network" button, this will display the new SSID profile immediately.
- Enable the newly created SSID by toggling the "Enabled" switch, and clicking on "Edit" to configure the SSID profile.
- Configure SSID profile:
- SSID Name: Enter the same SSID name as your existing network. This ensures devices recognize the network as the same one they have already connected to.
- Security Options: Select the same security settings (e.g., WPA2) and enter the same password as your existing SSID.
- Save and Apply Settings
By following these steps, you can extend your WiFi network by setting up multiple access points with the same SSID, providing a consistent and reliable connection throughout your coverage area.
