Wireless Health Enhancement

Wireless Health is a feature designed to optimize client connections by monitoring the health of each client and taking corrective actions when necessary.

  1. Reduced Client Optimization Interval:
    • Previously, the client needed to exhibit poor health for three minutes before the AP would disconnect it to encourage reconnection to a better access point.
    • This interval has been reduced to one minute, ensuring quicker reactions to poor connections.
    • Existing sites created before July 15 still use the three-minute interval.
    • To adopt the one-minute interval, administrators must make a configuration change in the Wireless Health settings.
  2. Hyperlink Addition for Troubleshooting:
    • A hyperlink has been added to the Wireless Health page, guiding users to a forum with troubleshooting tips and procedures for dealing with poor wireless health.

Wi-Fi Aid Enhancement

Wi-Fi Aid is a feature that provides alerts for network issues, including client connection failures. It helps administrators stay informed about network performance and take timely action.

  1. Improved Alert Wording:
    • Previously, the alert setting was phrased as "more than 20 total failure clients," meaning an alert would only trigger when the failure count exceeded 20.
    • This phrasing was confusing and limited the ability to set alerts for smaller numbers of failures.
  2. Revised Alert Setting:
    • The setting now reads "20 or more total failure clients," making it clear that an alert will trigger when the failure count reaches 20.
    • Users can set the alert threshold as low as 1, ensuring they receive notifications for even a single failure.

Benefits

  • Faster Response to Poor Connections:
    • The reduced client optimization interval ensures quicker disconnection and reconnection, improving overall network performance.
  • Enhanced User Experience:
    • Clearer alert settings and improved wording make it easier for administrators to configure and understand notifications, ensuring timely responses to network issues.

By implementing these enhancements, Zyxel Networks aims to provide a more responsive and user-friendly experience for managing wireless networks, ensuring that both administrators and end-users benefit from improved connectivity and performance.
