Question:

Is it possible to add an IP/MAC address to bypass the captive portal authentication on a Nebula managed firewall?

Answer:

You can follow the guide to configure allow list to bypass captive portal on nebula.

  1. In the LAN interface, configure IP/MAC binding for clients. Note that on Nebula, bypassing the captive portal supports IP addresses only. Therefore, you need to set up IP/MAC binding for the client that should bypass the portal.
  2. Navigate to Clients > Client list.
  3. Select the client you wish to bypass the captive portal for, click on Policy, and then choose Allow list (Bypass Captive portal).

This method works well for wired clients. If you have any issues with wireless clients, ensure that the wireless client is connected to a Zyxel Nebula AP. If the client is connected via a Zyxel Nebula AP, the necessary configurations should also be applied on the AP.

If the wireless client is using a 3rd party AP and the FLEX's captive portal is being utilized, the bypass list should work correctly.
